How to Apply for a Passport Online: A passport is one of the most important documents for your identification both in and out of your country. A passport carries many important details about yourself and verifies that you are truly an Indian citizen.
If you do not have a passport, then opt for one. It is very easy to obtain a passport. To get a passport, you need to submit an online application at the Passport Seva Kendra and pay the registration fees.
How to Apply for a Passport Online in India
We will discuss all the necessary steps required in this article.
Step-1:
This step involves the process of accessing your account at Passport Seva Kendra’s official website.
On the home page of Passport Seva Kendra, the website searches a section named ‘APPLY.’ Existing users with an account can easily log in using their ID and password but if you are here for the first time then register and create an account.
Click on Register and generate an ID and create your own password. Follow the steps shown on the screen to successfully register your account.
After the registration, you can access this account anytime you want.
Step-2:
The step involves the process of choosing the passport application you desire for. First, log in to the site and go to the Home page.
There, you can choose to apply for different types of passports of your choice-
- A Fresh passport / Passport Reissue.
- A Diplomatic passport / official passport
- Police clearance certificate (PCC)
- The Identity Certificate
The page also allows you to view your application again and check into its details. But if you want to change it, click on ‘apply for fresh/reissue of the passport’ on the applicant’s home page and follow the instructions.
Step-3:
The next step is to fill the application form.
Submitting the form online is very easy. From the home page choose to apply, and you will be directed to a page called ‘Passport Type’ where you need to choose from the following options:
- Fresh or a reissue
- Normal or tatkal
- Booklet of 36 pages or 60 pages
Click on the first option if you do not have a passport and choose whether you are an adult or a minor.
Click on the ‘Next button at the bottom right corner. Then you will direct to a page where different fields need to be checked.
These fields are Passport Type, Applicant Details, Family Details, Present Address, Present Address 1, Present Address 2, Emergency Contact, etc.,
After filling in all the necessary details and information click on submit and your form will be submitted to the online database.
Step-4:
After the form has been submitted, you will need to schedule an appointment to visit the Passport Seva Kendra and present yourself. Locate the closest one and visit them. In the ‘applicant home’ click on ‘View Saved/Submitted Applications.’
In this section, you will see that there are many options to choose from, click on ‘Pay and Schedule appointment’ and choose your mode of payment which can be online or challan.
After the payment has been successfully made, book an appointment. The date will be given to you once all the payment details have been verified and checked upon.
There is no option for the refund once the payment has been made and you will be an “Appointment Number.” But if you made multiple payments by mistake, you will be refunded by them.
Step-5:
This step involves the printing of the ARN receipt. The form contains details about a lot of things-
- Applicant Details:- The personal and important details like Name, DOB, Marital Status, Guardian’s Name, Gender, Address, Employment Status, and many other details.
- Applicants References:- First Reference Details, Second Reference Details.
- Payment Details:- The number of fees paid, date and time of payment, and the transaction id.
- Appointment Details:- The location of the Passport Seva Kendra, date and time of the Passport Appointment Interview, and your Appointment ID
What Do You Need To Remember While Visiting The PSK Center?
You need to ensure that you are carrying all your required documents while visiting the PSK center. Carefully carries your photographs.
Don’t carry any harmful objects there. Be very much clear with the payment terms as it won’t get refunded in any case.
If you are unable to visit the PSK center in any case, then you can reschedule or cancel your booking, but yes, you will then need to make a fresh payment again for processing a new appointment.
All the important documents that are required to produce on the day of the appointment will be informed to you beforehand. Produce all important documents that they have informed you about on the day of the interview.
